Jerry Miller, co-founder and lead guitarist of the influential band Moby Grape, passed away at the age of 81 in Tacoma, Washington. His death was confirmed by his grandson and reported on the band's Facebook fan page, although no cause was provided. Miller, who was born in 1943 and grew up in the same music scene as Jimi Hendrix, co-wrote some of Moby Grape's most notable songs, including 'Hey Grandma' and '8.05'. The band was a key player in the San Francisco psych rock movement of the late 1960s, releasing four albums and influencing many artists, including Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin. Following the band's breakup, Miller continued to make music with groups like The Rhythm Dukes and had a solo career. His guitar skills earned him accolades, including being named one of the top guitarists by Rolling Stone.
