Florida Primary Election Results Announced

In significant primary elections across Florida on August 20, 2024, Richard Del Toro won the Republican primary for St. Lucie County Sheriff, and Gabby Rothman secured the GOP primary for St. Lucie County tax collector, both set to face Democratic challengers in the November general election. In Polk County, Becky Troutman won the District 1 County Commission primary, while Mike Scott secured District 5, which has no general election opposition. Rep. Matt Gaetz and Sen. Rick Scott won their respective primary contests, with Scott facing Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in November. Broward County elected Abbey Ajayi as the new tax collector, and incumbents Joe Scott and Brenda Forman retained their positions as elections supervisor and clerk of courts, respectively. St. Lucie County Commission Chair Cathy Townsend also advanced, defeating her primary challenger.
