PIL seeking apology from Kangana
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to Kangana Ranaut and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging her upcoming film 'Emergency'. The PIL, filed by two Sikh organizations, alleges that the film contains scenes that violate the fundamental rights of the Sikh community and requests an unconditional apology from Ranaut, who portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film's release, originally scheduled for September 6, has been postponed as it has not yet received a censor certificate. The court has ordered responses to the notices by September 3 and set a hearing date to address the concerns. The petitioners argue that the film misrepresents Sikh history and promotes social discord. Ranaut has expressed disappointment over the situation, claiming her film is being unfairly stalled despite having been made with respect.
