Dengue outbreak in India

Bengaluru is currently experiencing a dengue outbreak, with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) identifying 30 hotspots amid rising cases, which have surged to approximately 7,900 since the start of the year, resulting in three fatalities. The BBMP is intensifying measures by distributing neem oil and DEET cream in high-risk areas and increasing fogging efforts, while asking residents to maintain cleanliness to prevent mosquito breeding. In Brazil, dengue cases have soared, with nearly 5,000 deaths reported and over 6.4 million cases this year, particularly affecting Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Parana. Meanwhile, Patna has seen 299 dengue infections this year, with local health authorities actively monitoring hot spots and training workers to check for mosquito larvae. In Ludhiana, health officials reported 39 dengue cases this monsoon, with ongoing efforts to control the outbreak. Additionally, Laos has reported over 8,400 dengue infections this year, highlighting ongoing challenges in urban areas due to population growth and poor sanitation.
