India, Japan to Hold 2+2 Meeting August 20
India and Japan are set to convene their third 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministers' Meeting on August 20, 2024, in New Delhi, aimed at enhancing their strategic partnership. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will represent India, while Japanese Defence Minister Minoru Kihara and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa will represent Japan. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that this dialogue is crucial for promoting bilateral cooperation in defense and security, reflecting the high level of India-Japan relations. The meeting follows previous sessions held in 2019 and 2022, indicating a commitment to deepening ties. Jaishankar has highlighted the strategic alignment and potential for increased business collaboration between the two nations, underlining the significance of this dialogue. Additionally, Jaiswal mentioned the upcoming Voice of Global South Summit, which aims to unify countries from the Global South on shared priorities.
