Furman Basketball Legend Frank Selvy Dies at 91
Frank Selvy, a legendary college basketball player known for scoring an NCAA Division I record 100 points in a single game, has died at the age of 91 at his home in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Selvy, nicknamed 'The Corbin Comet,' was an All-American guard at Furman University, where he led the NCAA in scoring twice and averaged 41.7 points per game as a senior. He was the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Baltimore Bullets in 1954 and played nine seasons in the NBA, earning two All-Star selections. After his professional career, Selvy returned to Furman to coach basketball for four seasons. He is survived by his wife Barbara, two children, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A cause of death has not been revealed.
