Nintendo Switch sales
Nintendo reported a 46% decline in Nintendo Switch sales during Q1 of fiscal year 2024, with only 2.1 million units sold, down from 3.9 million last year. The total lifetime sales of the console now stand at 143.42 million, but this is significantly lower than previous years, a trend attributed to the absence of major releases like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Software sales also suffered a 41.3% drop, totaling 30.64 million units sold. Despite this downturn, some recent titles, such as Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, have achieved over a million units sold each. The anticipated successor to the Switch is expected to be announced soon, as the current model approaches the end of its lifecycle, raising speculation about future sales strategies. Nintendo aims to sell 13.5 million units within this financial year to surpass the Nintendo DS and become its best-selling console ever.
