Doug Bedford Wins Johnson County Sheriff Primary
Doug Bedford has won the Republican primary for Johnson County Sheriff, defeating the incumbent Calvin Hayden with 56% of the vote. Bedford, a former undersheriff and Navy SEAL, campaigned on returning professionalism to the sheriff's office and criticized Hayden's controversial election fraud investigation. Bedford will face Democrat Byron Roberson in the November general election. In Macomb County, the Republican primary for sheriff is tightly contested between Scott Budnick and Terence Mekoski, with Budnick slightly ahead. The incumbent Anthony Wickersham will face the Republican winner in the general election. Additionally, the Republican primary for Macomb County Clerk and Register of Deeds saw incumbent Anthony Forlini leading with 62.5% of the vote.
