Yunus Sworn In as Bangladesh Interim Leader
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been sworn in as the head of Bangladesh's interim government following the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid mass protests. Yunus, known for his pioneering work in microcredit, will lead a caretaker government with 16 advisers to restore order and prepare for elections. The swearing-in ceremony, led by President Mohammed Shahabuddin, took place at Bangabhaban with various diplomats in attendance. Yunus has called for unity and peace, urging citizens to ensure no further violence. The interim government faces significant challenges, including restoring law and order and reviving the civil administration. International reactions have been positive, with both the US and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing readiness to work with the new government.
